We love breed events for lots of reasons. They're great for socializing your small dog and introducing him to new four- and two-legged friends. They're also good places to share advice and stories with other small-dog people. Best of all, there are events for just about every breed held all around the country. Here are just a few that we found courtesy of meetup.com.*

There are lots of great websites that help people connect with others who share their love of small dogs. One such site is Dogster.com®* or Meetup.com®*, an online community whose members meet regularly offline to learn, teach and share ideas and have fun. Check out a few of their breed groups below, and learn how you can join or start one at meetup.com.
Shih Tzu
The Palm Beach, FL, Shih Tzu & Friends Meetup® Group welcomes Shih Tzus and their parents to play with people and dogs of all shapes and sizes! If you have a Shih Tzu, part Shih Tzu or Shih Tzu cousin (Lhasa), or if you're just a friend or neighbor of a Shih Tzu, then you're invited! You can find out about new meetings, join the group and even post your comments and your dog's photo online at meetup.com.
Yorkshire Terrier
With some five hundred plus members, the San Francisco Yorkie Meetup® group meets once a month for a day of Yorkie sniffs, and is always looking to meet new friends. The most recent event featured a Video Show & Tell where members and their dogs showed off their fur, finery and tricks and just paraded their Yorkies' lightness of being on a runway. Prizes and ribbons were awarded in various categories such as Cutest Ears, Craziest Costume, Goofiest Story and more.

West Highland White Terrier
The New York Westie Meetup® is a friendly group with around sixty-five members so far. Recent events have included a First Annual Westie Picnic in Central Park celebrating the group's one-year anniversary, and the Second Annual Canine Cruise on the Hudson River where dogs and their humans made a big splash.

Pug
Representing the Midwest, the Chicago Pug Meetup® has over six hundred fifty members! Past events have included Puggy Beach Day at Montrose Dog Beach, where the dogs caught some waves while owners chatted and caught up, and their semiannual party, "The Good, The Bad and The Pugly." The spring event was attended by five hundred members, special pug and human guests and included fun activities like a costume contest and book signing. Check them out online at meetup.com
