Hollywood went to the dogs Monday night, as the "Animal Fair" magazine's 7th Annual "Paws for Style" transformed the Avalon nightclub at Hollywood and Vine into a kennel club. Proud dog owners and their precious pooches strutted their stuff on a brightly lit — runway, which scared some of the more skittish pups — with both humans and pets dressed to the nines in some of the world's most famous designers.
The night started with a cocktail party with tuxedoed waiters served Cesar brand dog food nibbles instead of appetizers, and a silent auction offered up items like Kate Spade dog carrier and puppy training DVDs. The proceeds from that, the party itself, and the upcoming Internet auction of all the clothes (both dog and human) worn on the runway will all go to the Animal Medical Center of New York, a non-profit veterinary hospital.
Singer Deborah Gibson wore Nicole Miller, and so did her Pomeranian and Sheltie pups, while "Desperate Housewives" daughter Andrea Bowen and her dog chose Adam and Eve. "Guiding Light" star Crystal Hunt donned Nannett Lepore and matched her barker, while "Crossing Jordan's" star Steve Valentine looked tough in Von Dutch, but his puggle puppy was so sweet that tough-guy image just didn't take.
Brit Ekland wore a hot red Richard Tyler coat and had the best trained dog in sight; Tequila wore a Gangster dog coat walked the runway without a leash and never faltered for a second! Lakers VP Jeanne Buss wore an oversized (and autographed) Kobe Bryant jersey, with a matching one for her dog Princess, and Kathy Griffin got all dolled up in Ali Rahimi couture, with Erica Courtney jewels to match.
There were also designs by Pamela Dennis, Dolce & Gabbana, Joseph Abboud, Roxy, 3 Dots, Baby Phat, Rock & Republic, Calvin Klein and many more. Check out all of the fashions at www.animalfair.com; place your bids and you too can dress yourself and your dog just like a Hollywood star.
