CESAR® Puppy Food for Small Dogs

Puppy food is specifically designed to meet the nutritional needs of growing puppies. Compared to adult food, it contains higher levels of protein and fat. It also has a different balance of vitamins and minerals for proper growth and development. 

Since puppies burn more calories and have smaller stomachs, their food must be more calorie-dense. They may be unable to eat enough adult food to meet their energy needs.

Your dog's food needs depend on several factors, including their age, size, and energy levels. 

Use the following feeding guidelines as a starting point and then monitor your pup’s condition.  

For example, if your three-month-old puppy weighs 10 pounds, you’d want to feed it seven trays of CESAR® Classic Loaf in Sauce Puppy - Chicken & Beef each day. 

However, you wouldn’t give this to them all at once. Instead, you’d break it into three or four small meals. If you feed your pup breakfast, lunch, an afternoon snack, and dinner, you will give them 1¾ trays at each feeding. 

If that’s too much or too little for your unique pet, you might want to adjust the amount of food to help maintain their ideal body condition.

Small dogs have unique nutritional needs compared to larger breeds. They typically have a higher metabolism, which means they need more calories per pound of body weight.

But don’t switch from puppy food to adult food overnight. A gradual transition will help prevent digestive issues. 

Start by mixing small amounts of adult food into your puppy’s current food. Over the course of a week, gradually increase the amount of adult food until it makes up 100% of your dog’s diet.
